Development of a flood forecasting system in hydrographic basins by means of artificial neural networks

What’s up hacker, sudo? This paper proposes the development of a flood forecasting system to mitigate issues in hydrographic basins. It was presented and published at the IADIS International Conference Intelligent Systems and Agents in 2010 in Germany.

In a nutshell

The paper utilizes Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) to address flood prediction challenges, relying on pluviometric and fluviometric data collected within a specific hydrographic basin. The ANN is trained using time series data and supervised learning methods. The results have demonstrated that the use of ANNs is appropriate and can enhance hydrological modeling techniques. The study centered on the Itajaí-Açu River Basin, providing flood forecasts for the city of Blumenau in Santa Catarina, Brazil.
